  ISDN Loopback Device Overview

The Astricom Loopback Device is a cost effective method of diagnosing problems with basic rate ISDN lines. When called, the Loopback Device places a loop between transmit and receive in the B channel/s to return speech, data & tones.

Simple Installation and Actvation
The Loopback Device simply plugs into the NT unit and may be called from any speech or data terminal (phone, router, video conferencing unit etc). When called from a hand held test telephone, it can loop back a bit error rate test pattern allowing end-to-end line quality verification.

Flexible Configuration Options
A Windows software application is provided on CD ROM enabling simple configuration of the Loopback Device, to accept the following different call types:-

  • Any call
  • Calls from a particular number (CLI)
  • Calls to a particular MSN (Multiple Subscriber Number)
  • Calls containing a particular Subaddress
  • Speech calls only
  • Data calls only

The device may also be configured to loop back calls immediatley or after a programmed delay. The default setting is to loop back any call received immediatley.

LED status indicators provide information at the remote site, including active bearer (B) channels, line power & synchronisation.

If Loopback devices are dispatched to all remote sites, they may be called outside hours by an automatic call generation system to gather complete network management status information.

The low cost Loopback device from Astricom is the perfect tool to ensure and prove reliable operation of ISDN basic rate lines from anywhere, at any time.
